From Partnerships to Plates: How Own-Source Revenue Supports Food Sovereignty

Growing Food, Strengthening Community

BNA continued its food sovereignty program in 2026 to help reduce food insecurity for members. The community maintains a greenhouse and several raised garden beds at the community greenspace, producing seasonal fruits and vegetables. The program also provides food preservation equipment, including a smoker, dehydrator, and industrial ice maker for members. The food sovereignty program continues to expand each year.

In 2026, with funding from Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada’s Local Food Infrastructure Fund, BNA will build a food dome. This project will help extend the growing season and bring food production closer to housing, making it more accessible for members and their families. This project is community-led, with members involved at every stage.
